Graduation began promptly at 9am with the teachers leading the processional of seniors walking in to the stadium. Since Amy’s graduation had been rained out and was held in the gym, being on the football field was a totally new experience.
Because of Misha’s honor graduate status, she walked in with the other honor graduates in front of the other students. 240 graduating seniors. It was a happy day for this mom, but I got choked up a couple of times.
The “heralds” read out each students name for them to receive their diploma. As they reached “Scott Harton’s” name, one of Misha’s good friends, the announcers said, “Ladies and Gentleman, we are going to pause for a short moment and welcome a very special guest.” It was Scott’s brother home from Iraq as a surprise for Scott and his family. They didn’t know that he would be coming. It was such an awesome moment.
The ceremony lasted for two hours, but Kelsey didn’t. Amy drove her and Patrick home so that Patrick could put her down for a nap. Amy found us afterward and came back to pose for some pics with Misha.
Misha was off for the day with friends and we went home for a lunch of taco leftovers. Amy had to make a quick trip to the grocery store for avocados though.
