We had to get to the airport earlier than normal since many of the parking lots around the airport were closed. We parked at The Parking Spot which was about 15 minutes further from the airport than the Pikes Peak parking area. Chris preregistered for parking which bumped the daily rate from $8/day to $5/a day.
The airport wasn’t so busy, though it was still weird to see people wearing masks everywhere.
It didn’t appear as though much progress has been made on the construction at the airport. You still had to go outside and around to get from one area to another.
Misha didn’t have pre-check so she headed through security before the rest of us (she is waiting on her global entry interview).
Since we left so much earlier (not really knowing what to expect at the airport) we had time to get some dinner. Unfortunately, the weather delayed us pushing our boarding time back and then our departure was even further delayed with more rain and lightning. A two and a half hour delay. It made for a long night.
I will admit, I was rather leery of traveling at this time of Covid-19. Chris reassured me that the locations we were traveling to were displaying low numbers and had been low for awhile. We wore our face masks in the airport and used hand sanitizer often.
We finally landed around 11 pm at the Medford International Airport in Medford, OR, retrieved our luggage, picked up our rental car, and drove a short distance to our hotel.
