A Dip in the Lake

One of the panels from our dock somehow blew off (though it was ziptied to the structure) and was missing.  Chris offered to the girls a $25 reward for whomever could find the missing panel.  Though Misha and Kristen both had designs on earning the finders fee, Kristen was the first to go searching.

Chris showed her how to use a plumb bob on the end of a string, but it's reach was only as long as her arm.

I grabbed a long 2x4 for her to try, but that was unwieldy and ineffective.  She knew it was coming, though she wasn't looking forward to actually getting in to the lake.  First of all, it was cold...well, that was enough.  But she did it and she stayed in that water for at least 20 minutes or so searching for the lost panel on the bottom of the lake with her feet.  She didn't find it in the vicinity of the dock and some surrounding areas where the water was shallow enough.  Since she was already wet, she didn't want to climb out of the water without finding the panel.

Sadly, she did not find the panel.
