The kids would be camping at a family's farm just outside of Longmont.
The first night, Thursday, I dropped Kristen and all of her stuff off at the Stake Center where they would begin their three-day event with a service activity and dinner. For the service activity, the kids met with some of the seniors members in our ward and ward boundaries and asked questions to learn more about them and help with keeping a history. (Not sure if there is a plan to publish anything or what they plan to do with the information.)
On Friday, the kids spent the whole day at Water World. It was fun until the very end when the rain started.
And the rain continued on through the night. Kids whose tents were being swamped moved into the Bingham's RV, into their living room, and down to the basement. It was a pretty wet night, but they survived.
Saturday morning dawned bright and dry.
Chris and I had volunteered to prepare breakfast and lunch for the kids, so we arrived around 8 to set out breakfast. The kids staggered out of their sleeping places.
The plan was for them to also have a weeding service project at the Bingham's farm. But it was determined that the ground was just too wet and that it would make more of a mess than be helpful. They played games for the morning.
Chris and I returned at lunch to BBQ burgers and hot dogs and help clean up. We brought a trailer and transported all of the chairs and tables back to the stake center.
