I asked Kristen if she would please "empty" her backpack (which she
had left by the front door). By "empty" I meant, take out her lunch bag
and put it in the pantry and then hang her backpack in the mudroom.
Kristen interpreted "empty" to mean, take everything out of her
backpack, spread it out on the living room floor, and walk away.
"Kristen?" I queried, "Why is all of your stuff on the living room floor?"
"You asked me to empty it."
So I did.
