Wednesday
Awwww, such an early wake up call—3:45 am. We had to leave for the train station by 4:30 to catch the 4:50 train to the Marseille airport. We were assured that protestors would not be out that early as they could not begin protesting until 8 am and the police were beginning to crack down on them. Apparently on Sunday, the protestors had blocked access to the airport and people had to walk over a kilometer with their bags in tow to the airport. Such a disruption. With such an early start, we missed most of the traffic and the airport was not busy at all.
We quickly made our way through immigration and security and had some time to spare before our flight to Belgium took off at 6:45 am.
We landed in Belgium with a two-hour layover, stopping first at the United desk to have new boarding passes printed. Chris made quick friends with the gate agents.
We boarded our plane to Chicago after a two-hour layover in Brussels. Our flight was scheduled to take 8 and a half hours. Chris was thrilled that he finally got to fly in the newer Polaris business class. Let’s just say, it was awesome.
We had another short layover in Chicago before finally landing in Denver around 4:30 pm. Misha and Amy picked us up from the airport filled with crazy Thanksgiving traffic. So good to be home.
