The elevation was about 400 feet in a half mile. Substantial enough. The path started out rather easy and was nicely marked, but spring run off did some damage to the trail as we progressed.
It was questionable at times that we were even going on the right path and we had to backtrack.
The waterfall was lovely but I am sure that it is much more powerful in the spring.
We weren’t quite ready to be done hiking for the day and start for home. Chris found the Denver South Park Pacific Railroad historical trail which is now part of the Colorado Trail and was once the site of a railroad from 1880 through 1926 adjacent to Chalk Creek and the Chalk Cliffs overlooking Mount Princeton.

The hike was just over 5 miles with 400 feet of elevation. Mostly it felt flat, so it was nice and easy. We stopped for lunch at the halfway point before turning around and started for home once we arrived back at the car.
