We had absolutely no wait for the first couple of rides we rode. Amy, Misha, and I headed to the Mummy ride and not seeing Chris and Kristen when we got off we got in the single rider line for our second ride; Chris and Kristen went on the Jurassic Park ride. We all went on the Jurassic Park ride next and found that it doesn't really matter where you sit, you're probably going to get wet.
We headed back to the top of the park riding the four escalators back up and some of us taking a set of stairs along the way. We rode a few of the rides we didn't get in on Thursday--Shrek 4-D and the Simpsons--posed for pictures with some celebrity look alikes, watched the Animal Show and sat through WaterWorld again. Amy and Kristen purposefully sat in the "you're gonna get splashed" zone while the rest of us opted for a less wet experience.
Misha lamented the fact that the Harry Potter section of the park was under construction and wouldn't be ready until next year. We stopped at a Mexican restaurant in the City Walk outside Universal Studios.
We tried to find a parking spot at the Griffith Observatory where we could get a great view of the Hollywood sign, but it was a fairly hopping place on a Saturday with hikers, joggers, tourists and dog-walkers. We were turned around in our drive to the Observatory at one point and had to detour to another road. It too was packed with cars along the side of the road. We finally came upon a car leaving and quickly maneuvered into a spot. It was a madhouse.
Traffic was much more frenzied Saturday afternoon as we headed toward Malibu to spend time at the beach. We finally found a nice section of beach and enjoyed a peaceful afternoon without much wind. As usual, we put out the "Don't get wet" caution. Amy and Misha were content to hang out on the beach for the most part, but Kristen played in the water.
She started by getting her toes wet, then her shorts which she then rolled up, next her shirt and shorts were both getting wet. By then we just had her take her shorts off and she happily played and sat in the water. We had one towel that we shared while sitting on the beach and then let Kristen wrap up in it for out drive back to the hotel.
I ran in to the hotel with her so that she could change and then we went in search of an IHOP for dinner. Sunday morning and our flight home would come early, so we all hit the sack early.
