Europe Day Eleven - A Long Way Home

I receive text alerts on my Fitbit and the text that buzzed my arm at 5:15 am alerted me that our flight from Madrid to Newark was delayed by FOUR hours.  We were not thrilled, but it did let us sleep in a little longer than we had planned.

We were up after 8 am and started getting ready for the day packing up stuff.  We took it easy until around noon with Chris catching up on emails and documenting his expenses and me starting to type up my notes from the past ten days.

Our flight from Madrid left four hours late which meant we would hopefully catch the next flight from Newark to Denver.  We were bumped from our original flight with good seats, to coach seats on the only other available flight for the day.  We were just happy to be going home.  Our girls were even more happy that we were coming home.  Amy was done parenting.  Her sisters were done with her parenting.

It was a long, tiring day, but we finally walked in to the house at 10:30 pm.  All of the girls were in bed, though Amy was still mostly awake.  I hugged all of my girls, each one of them briefly waking up and giving me a hug.  It was good to be home.
