Our Summer Road Trip - Day Fourteen

Sunday, July 26
I'm pretty sure I am traveled out.  3600 miles, 14 days, 2 countries (sounds a little like the ending of the Amazing Race).  So glad to be headed home.  I drove for four hours today.  My first time on this trip.  I am grateful that Chris was willing to drive so much.

We stayed at a Residence Inn in Billings and the breakfast fare at the hotel was okay.  The waffle maker worked and that was an improvement over the Hampton Inn in Spearfish.  We were packed and on the road by 9 am and only made a few bathroom stops until we hit Casper around 1 pm.

We listened to the Sunday afternoon session of April's General Conference in the morning.  Amy had had a rash all over her body and took Benadryl before we left the hotel.  As much as she tried to stay awake, she just couldn't and admitted later that she only heard a few words of conference.  If those words were different than the few words she might have heard in April, we're doing good.

We found a Village Inn that seemed to appeal to everyone for lunch and then were off again.  Chris drove the rest of the way home.  Our house was hot.  Chris had set the temperature to 88*.  My plants didn't like that at all.  Fortunately they perked up with a little water and cooler air.

Funny story.  Before leaving on our trip, we had some helium balloons in the front entry that were still floating around (tied to a jar) from when we picked Kristen up at the airport.  Twice during our vacation, the house alarm went off.  The first time, Chris called our neighbors the Allens and asked them do a quick house check.  Nothing seemed to be amiss.  When the alarm alerted Chris' cell phone the second time, Andrew Batson was close by and went to check it out.  Andrew determined that it was the balloons moving around that was setting off the alarm.  Moral of the story?  Pop the balloons before you leave on vacation.
