My Dad woke up with an irregular heartbeat. It is an issue that he has to deal with regularly, and you can imagine that it stresses my parents. One of the at-home remedies is to take a cold shower to shock the heart back in to regular rhythm. After receiving a blessing from Chris, taking a cold shower, he was back in rhythm by about 11 am. My parents chose to take it easy at the condo for the rest of the day.
The girls played Monopoly in the morning while we hung around the condo to keep an eye on my dad.
We had a lunch of leftover Black Forest ham, cous cous and veggies before heading out with the girls for a little exploration of the area. We drove to Invermere, about 16 km away from Radium and happened upon Kinsmen Beach. It was a popular tourist destination with crowded beaches and people swimming and boating. We hadn't come prepared with water stuff so we just walked along the beach and then found a rocky section where the girls practiced skipping rocks.
Driving in to town, we spied a Sobey's grocery store and stopped to check it out on our way back to Radium to see if the prices were any better than the tourist grocery store in Radium. It was still a little more than we would pay normally, but leaps and bounds better than the other store. We stocked up on some more snacks and food for lunches.
Hot dogs for dinner. Not my favorite, so I ate the veggies and fruit.
Mom and Dad hadn't planned to go to the Hot Springs for health reasons, so the rest of our family headed out around 8:30 pm. We might have gone earlier in the day if the weather hadn't been so hot, but later in the evening was perfect weather-wise, and the pool stayed open until 11 pm.
It was as I remembered it, though I think the entrance to the regular cooler pool now directed people through the building instead of outside around a building. Ahhhh, it felt so lovely. Because it is a mineral pool, it is said to have healing properties, but I imagine you'd have to make pretty regular visits to see any benefit.

We all enjoyed the hot springs, but the girls and Chris opted to visit the cool pool a couple of times. Mostly because the hot springs were meant for soaking and relaxing. The other pool was more for swimming and playing around. While they were gone, a man and his young daughter inched closer to where I was sitting on the edge of the pool. He started talking to me while the 4 or 5-year old swam around with her life jacket.
I kept looking toward the entrance to see if my family was returning but no such luck. It didn't take him too long to retreat after asking me to go see some waterfalls with him, and I told him that I was married. And then my family all came back...after he had left.
We left the pool around 10:30 pm and were sufficiently relaxed and ready for bed.
