A Late Flight

The girls had a four-day weekend with Friday and Monday (MLK day) off.  Our friend, Julie, was getting married on the Friday, so we made arrangements to fly to Utah for her wedding.  Our flight did not leave until 10 pm!  Ugghgh.  That is my bed time.

We arrived at the airport with some time to spare, or so we thought.  So we took a few minutes to check out the new hotel at the Denver airport.  We walked back in to the terminal to security, and the south side was closed.  The north side was closed.  We had to go through security at the A Gate.  That slowed us down.

As we were through security and getting ready to leave, Misha realized that she had forgotten to pick up her ring out of the bin, and Chris had forgotten the car keys.  Misha went back to retrieve them but was only able to find the keys.  Chris took the keys and went on ahead since he had A boarding on Southwest and needed to save seats for the rest of us who had C boarding.  (Yeah, we both slept through our 10 pm check in time on Wednesday evening and didn't get checked in until 10:15 pm).

I went back with Misha and asked one of the TSA guys if her ring had been turned in.  He launched into this "She shouldn't have taken her ring off.  People lose more rings than anything because they take them off and don't have to?"  I stopped him, "Do you think this is making her feel better or helping her find it."  He just walked away.  A nicer, younger TSA lady asked us if we needed assistance.  She got her co-workers looking in the bins that had been transferred up front.  Success.  We thanked her and were on our way.

As we arrived at our gate, everyone had boarded and the door was closed.  They knew we were coming and told us to wait for the gate agent.  We were the last people on board.  Yay us!  We ended up sitting in the back row.  Chris and I sat together, Amy and Misha were in rows in front of us and Kristen was next to us.

Our flight was uneventful.  We gathered our stuff in SLC and headed to Hertz to pick up our rental.  Chris had arranged for a hotel in downtown SLC, so about fifteen minutes later, we were driving around trying to find it.  As we stopped at a light, a car across the intersection was brighting us.  It was a police car, and it pulled us over as soon as we turned the corner.

He asked, "Were you driving with your brights on?"

Chris, "No, you were brighting us."

Since we hadn't flashed him back, he thought that perhaps Chris was a drunk driver.  He let us go saying, "Don't drive with your lights on bright."

I mumbled, "Uhhh, duh, we weren't."

We arrived at the Homewood Suites and got the girls situated in their room with two queen beds.  We had a separate room with a King.  I think the reason we got such a great deal on the room was because in Amy's words, "This area is kind of sketchy."
