After a few hours in Kihei, we went back to Jade's house to drop some things off. Letti made us some more guacamole to take to everyone else, so we grabbed that and hit the road.
We went to some food trucks and got some dinner to take with us as we went all the way up Haleakala mountain.
The drive up was incredible. We drove straight through the cloud layer and once we broke through, we saw the most incredible sunset. You could see for miles in any direction. It was one of the most incredible places I had ever been. The top of the mountain was 10,000 feet above sea level, so we were all pretty chilly as we were dressed for the beach.
We stayed and watched the sunset and did a little stargazing after the sun went down. We made the drive back down the mountain, which took about an hour. I dozed for most of the way. We got back around 10 pm and everyone was pretty tired.
Instead of going to bed, Jade suggested we do a Circle instead. Her parents do circles once a week with their friends as a way to talk about their feelings and connect with others on a deeper level. We all set ourselves up in a circle and checked in, setting the floor for withholdings. Withholdings can be good or bad, but it’s when you say something you’ve been holding back. We got through those and a trust exercise before we checked out. It was a good way to ease some of the tension that happened with the situation over the week.
We wrapped that up and finally went to bed at around 1am.
